Happy Halloween

I had decorated our house for Halloween already last week since we were having friends over for dinner on Friday. We served pumpkin soup, pulled turkey with side dishes, carrot cake and meringue ghosts.

Lake Øyeren

We live close to one of the largest lakes here in Norway, lake Øyeren. We are also lucky to have a boat so that we can explore the lake. This summer we made two boat trips on the lake and we were also hiking in the area a couple of times. The lake is popular for migratory birds and attracts bird watchers.

Gansvika is a popular destination for a day trip. You can find a little beach there and a restaurant with a cozy outdoor terrace.

The building where the restaurant in Gansvika is located was a sawmill in the old days.

Where the river Glomma enters lake Øyeren you can find Fetsund lenser, an old timber floating centre. Nowadays you can learn about the timber floating industry in the museum and you can walk on the water on floating piers.

Gozo

We brought the car on board the ferry that took us to Malta's sister island; Gozo. Here we had booked a really nice hotel, Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz. The hotel looks like a local luxury mansion. From Gozo we also made a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon, where mummy and daddy could swim in the turquoise water.

Malta

Finally it's time for me to show some photos from our very first family holiday abroad. This time the destination was the island of Malta and the sister island Gozo. Both islands are beautiful and the architecture is special, almost all the buildings were constructed of a yellowish sandstone, which is typical for Malta. We rented a car and explored both Malta and Gozo. The distances are short and everything is easily accessible when you have your own car.

We made a day trip to the capital Valletta. A beautiful historical city.

Valletta is nice, but maybe not the best city for a baby stroller. :-D
